A Quick Summer Recap

Whoah, it’s almost September already?! I haven’t posted since April, so I guess I’d better do a little end-of-spring through summer recap and get back up to speed here!

I finished the 100 day project, I’ve got a million bajillion (only a slight exaggeration) flower paintings in various stages of completion to sort through/finish. I feel like I haven’t had a spare minute to think about it since, but it was absolutely a very good thing for me (even though I utterly and completely failed at the sharing-my-work-online aspect of things) and I’m definitely going to do it again next round.

The pieces I did actually share led to a couple of nice birth-month-flower watercolor commissions that were really fun to do. I recently posted them on instagram, and that led to some more commissions. After I do those, I’ll have 7 out of the 12 months, so now I think I have to round out the whole set and paint at least 12 birth-month-flowers in this style (most months have two flower options)! Maybe I’ll offer prints or make a calendar or something? That’ll be a good project for this fall.

One of my bird paintings, Red-Bearded Bee-Eater, was chosen for this year’s M2R Fence Gallery, and it was so fun to bicycle by it for a couple months (my kids, especially, were so proud and pointed it out to everyone)! It’s now traveling throughout the county and will be displayed at a new location each month until next spring.

We had a wonderful, but very busy summer! We went on some pretty epic family trips - to China in June (deserves its own post, I think!), Lake Oconee for the 4th, and Cape San Blas later in July… then school started back in August!

I’m excited to get back on a more regular schedule, and very much looking forward to some cooler weather, crunchy leaves, and cozy sweaters!
